We have noticed the latest trend has certainly been a shift towards vintage carpets over patchwork carpets. The main difference between vintage and patchwork carpets is that vintage carpets are made from one unique carpet and patchwork carpets can be produced from up to ten different Anatolian carpets.
As patchwork carpets are stitched together, they are not as strong as vintage carpets and there is a higher chance that the weaves may come loose if they were not woven correctly, placed under strain or underwent heavy use.
Vintage carpets and patchwork carpets can be combined perfectly together. However, we recommend that the vintage carpet is placed where there will be more activity, rather than the patchwork carpet.
